Enhancing Indian Home Textile Exports to Japan and Korea
The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council

How can we improve India's textile market in other parts of Asia?

India's textile market faces stagnation in western countries. Athena therefore assisted the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council by assessing the viability of penetrating Asian markets. This focused on South Korea and Japan. The assessment looked at the key strategies for the industry to penetrate these markets. It also involved a trade flow analysis of home textile products at 6-digit HS code, and compared these two countries with the rest of the world. It reviewed policies and tariff/non-tariff barriers, in addition to an assessment of India's competitiveness. The study also captured primary insights from stakeholder consultations. These included industry chambers, exporters, trade agencies, retailers and distributors in the three countries to identify strategies for market penetration.
