Jay Anand has more than eighteen years of experience in the development sector and has worked on various issues related to carbon credit in nature-based solutions, monitoring and evaluation, natural resource management, climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, ecosystem services, and community-based adaptation, both at the programme and policy levels. Prior to joining Athena, he led a portfolio of projects related to vulnerability assessments, adaptation and mitigation strategies in Water, Forest and Agriculture, climate risk management training, and capacity-building for DFID, UNDP, SDC, GIZ, ADB, IDRC, BIOFORSK, UK-Start, the World Bank and other programs in India and abroad. As a development practitioner, Jay has global experience in evidence-based research, dealing with the nexus of water, agriculture, and renewable energy. His research focus is on community-based adaptation, vulnerability assessment, environmental governance, and policy.

Jay earned a M.Sc.in Geology (Hydrology) from Patna University and a M.S. in Coastal Geosciences and Engineering from Kiel University.
