About the Data/Digital Governance Practice

The practice provides research and advisory support, to help donors, governments and implementing organisations develop thoughtful and equitable approaches to routine data use and data governance. The practice primarily delivers support to strengthen data management systems, promote service delivery and promote equitable data governance.

About the Role

The Associate Consultant will work with the Senior Consultant and Principal Consultant, Data/Digital Governance. They will be responsible for technical support for ongoing projects in the practice, business development support and communication for the practice.

The Associate Consultant will be a high-performing, passionate early career professional who is eager to contribute to cutting edge research on the use of technology in service delivery and social impact.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into well-structured, accessible deliverables (e.g., policy briefs, presentations, reports, blog posts, etc.). The role will require the ability to quickly comprehend complex concepts (even with limited prior knowledge) and work on multiple projects at the same time.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the vision and strategy for the Data/Digital Governance practice
  • Provide technical support to assigned projects in the Data/Digital Governance This may require the candidate to:
    • Support proposals for clients such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Bank, USAID, and the UN
    • Support primary and secondary research
    • Interpret and communicate research results in a succinct manner for a wide audience
  • Provide support to the Practice Lead and Senior Consultant on strategy and business development
  • Contribute to knowledge management, communication, and dissemination
  • Project Management Support: including support on project coordination, liaising with external consultants, etc.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Relevant Master’s degree (e.g Law, Public Policy, Governance, etc.)
  • Demonstrated interest in data governance, through past academic and/or professional experiences
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills, and the ability to express ideas effectively in a clear and concise manner, is a must
  • Ability to work with multicultural teams spanning multiple time zones
  • An ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines while delivering high quality technical work
  • Attention to detail and good time management
  • Willingness to travel for project work
