Conducting a Market Scan of Vocational Institutions and Industries in India
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) recently tapped Athena Infonomics to conduct a market scan of vocational institutions and industries as part of the Indo-German Initiative for Technical Education (IGnITE). GIZ and Siemens jointly developed IGnITE, which focuses on addressing the challenges around bridging the existing gap between vocational institutions and industry. IGnITE aims to support the development of highly qualified technicians based on the German Dual Vocational Educational Training (DVET) model, with a focus to make them industry- and future-ready. This market scan will encourage practical training and exposure.

Athena's role in this project involved: developing an understanding through primary research (surveys and interviews) of around 500 industries and industry associations located within ten IGnITE clusters, including Goa, Telangana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Assam; mapping the industries' activities and operations to the selected trades under the IGnITE project; identifying and establishing an interest from industries in collaborating with IGnITE; exploring their awareness of and interest in green manufacturing practices and their application in their operations; and building an understanding of the requirements for green skills among their technicians.
