Developing Farmer-centric Models of Data Governance

Developing Farmer-centric Models of Data Governance

A consortium comprising Athena Infonomics and Development Gateway developed a report entitled Farmer-Centric Data Governance: Towards A New Paradigm for USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation under the DAI-managed Digital Frontiers mechanism.

This report explores new and inclusive ways of approaching data governance that place the farmer at the center of the data economy. It aims to: raise awareness around the current digital agriculture data economy and implications; identify user-centric data governance approaches (with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries); put farmer-centric data governance approaches on the radar; and demonstrate the purpose, value, benefits, and challenges of these practices.
