How can we improve fundraising strategies to support children born with cleft lips?
The PRactice commissioned Athena to conduct preliminary market research to assess Smile Train’s operating model. The purpose of the research was to examine their outreach strategy. The research looked at market receptiveness and explored market synergies to generate sustainable funding options. Post examination of peer NGO group funding models and identification of key differentiating factors, Athena conducted stakeholder consultations. These helped validate CSR spending patterns, which enabled identification of companies whose CSR strategy focuses on child health and therefore the probability of securing funds. In addition to this, we created a checklist of legal and statutory compliance norms to ensure Smile Train’s eligibility for CSR funding.
