Athena Infonomics' Principal WASH Consultant Bhitush Luthra was recently invited to participate in a consultative workshop during the Forum for Inclusive and Resilient Sanitation in Hill Cities, hosted by the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) in partnership with BORDA South Asia, the Ladakh Ecological Development and Environmental Group (LEDEG), and the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Ladakh.

While at the forum, Bhitush discussed Athena Infonomics' experience with citywide inclusive sanitation (CWIS), arguing that the prime purpose of sanitation data collection should be to help governments better plan interventions, rather than simply reporting findings to higher authorities for the sake of rankings or certifications. He went on to explain how technology can be used to support the collection of quality sanitation data and its analysis.
