Director - Education and Governance
Mr. Das brings with him extensive experience in strategy, project evaluation, finance, MIS, operations and management. He previously served as chairman and managing director, EdCIL (a Mini Ratna Category-I CPSE, Government of India) for over 4 years. He is a former career civil servant and a member of Indian Railway Accounts Services (IRAS), 1986 batch. Mr. Das has held several senior positions spanning across government, CPSEs and autonomous bodies including Indian Railways, Indian Tea Board and Rail Tel Corporation of India Ltd. Mr. Das has contributed to conceptualization, planning and execution of several new greenfield railway lines, electrification and telecom mega projects.
Mr. Das is a credited with transforming and leading EdCIL on high growth path with the Company turnover having increased 4 fold from 78 crore INR (11 million USD) during FY 14-15 to 317 crore INR (44 million USD, unaudited) during FY 18-19. There was a more than a five-fold increase in PBT during the period. The company was recognized as “Mini Ratna Category-I” under his leadership and bagged several key digital education in India and abroad. A new vertical for online testing was also created and grown rapidly to serve multiple corporates within state and central government.
Mr. Das has also been the founder of the ‘Study in India’ campaign which has been developed and operated for the government of India to increase the number of inbound overseas students. Mr. Das increased the footprint of EdCIL overseas which included successful execution of a project in Mauritius for supplying 28,000 e-tablets for Ministry of Education & Human Resource (MoHER), Mauritius for class-I to III children. He is a postgraduate in economics from Delhi School of Economics. Mr. Das also holds a PGDM from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and an MBA from Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship (AGSE) at Swinburne University.
